KIMURA¡¯S DISEASE
Ahn Hee-Chang

Park Yong-Koo
Abstract
Kimura¡¯s disease is a rare, benign disease characterized by subcutaneous or dermal nodules with distinctive histopathologic features. It usually occurs on the head and neck in young adult. The histopathologic characteristics of the tumor are characterized by the proliferfation of endothelial cells associated with varying degrees of lymphocytic, histiocytic, and eosinophilic infiltration.

A 26-year old man without blood eosinophilia had two, large masses with ulcerration and bleeding in the occipital region. He had these masses that were growing rapidly for only 2 months and multiple, palpable lymph nodes in the posterolateral neck. These were excised widely so that its defect was covered with the rotation flap of scalp. The specimen was confirmed as a Kimura¡¯s disease demonstrated histopathologically as abave. After the surgical excision, the lesion was not recurred during the observation.
